HG Gour Gopal Das Adhikari, a devout practitioner of bhakti, was born and brought up in an opulent Vaishnava family on the border of Orissa and Bengal in 1976. His parents were attracted by the Sanatana dharma philosophy quite early on and got initiated by HH Jaya Pataka Swami in 1970s. His father was instrumental in running several Namahatta centers under the guidance of HH Bhakti Raghava Swami (then known as HG Raghava Pandit). This conducive atmosphere at home gave him the opportunity to unbox his inherent talent for playing instruments and singing kirtans in the preaching programs. Besides this he also got to serve several senior ISKCON devotees, Sannyasis, and Brahmacaris right from his childhood.
Later as he grew, HH Bhakti Raghava Swami (later his spiritual master) engaged him to serve in ISKCON Secunderabad temple. From then he has continued to live in the city even after entering grhastha ashrama.
Gour Gopal Das Adhikari has also served as a member of SVC (Sustainable Vaishnava Committee) in GBC-SPT and later participated actively in Sri Govind Gau Gram Prachar Yatra, an ISKCON Daiva Varanasrama Ministry-India’s initiative.
He effortlessly plays various musical instruments and sings soulful bhajans. Under divine inspiration, he has composed several music tracks of vaishnava bhajans and continues to do so. His music compositions are unique in their soothing appeal, secretly unleashing a barrage of divine love for Krishna through transcendental vibration. This touch of novelty of unheard-before freshly composed tracks takes the people off their feet to surrender to the Supreme Lord. Capitalising on his creative skills, he preaches love for the Holy Name to the people through his prolific renderings in his heart touching melodious voice.
His rural roots, vaishnava brought-up and fascination for music attracted him to preaching in every place and situation.
Gour Gopal prabhu loves to serve gomata and has a cow named Surabhi, whom he personally serves at his simple house, New Govardhan. He is accompanied by his equally gifted daughter, Radhika and wife Vrndavanlila Devi Dasi. He has been running a devotee congregation called Govardhan for more than a decade. This congregation has expanded to several branches in and outside the city. He has conducted more than 400 officially declared satsanga programs and organised several yatras to various dhams.
His compassionate heart and deep insight into human psyche make him an empathetic spiritual counsellor, life coach, besides a gifted musician and a bhakti sadhaka.
